15 Whites & Rosés to Try This Summer

Vintage Roots

Summer is here, and for many it’s a time for more rosés and white wines. Thankfully there are many summer whites and rosé wines to choose from, so no shortage of all when it comes to summer sipping.

With this list here, we’ll introduce you to some popular favourites, as well as some new whites and rosé wines to try too this summer too.

How to serve white or rosé wine in summer?

wine being chilled in an ice bucket, summer whites and rosé wines

White wines and rosé wines should be served chilled in summer (and other times of the year too). Pop your bottle in the fridge for a couple of hours. If you’re short on time, you can also put it in the freezer for about half an hour (just don’t forget about it!). To keep your wine cool outside, you can use an ice bucket.

Note: Fuller-bodied whites (like an oak aged Chardonnay or other barrel aged whites) do not need to served as chilled, so these can be chilled for less time.

15 Whites & Rosés to Try This Summer

We’d thought we’d start this list with three bubblies to get the summer parties started, starting with a fizz from expert organic sparkling wine and Prosecco makers Tenuta Giol. This organic estate dates back to 1427!

Three organic bubblies

Their Organic Prosecco Frizzante is a bestselling and customer favourite, with one customer reviewing noting that they, “always have a bottle of this in the fridge”. This award-winning lightly sparkling Prosecco is always a crowdpleaser.

For another top fizz, we recommend Santa Tresa’s Il Grillo Vino Spumante Brut. This elegant Sicilian sparkler is made from 100% Grillo grapes, a native Sicilian varietal, which gives it a delicious and refreshing citrussy edge.

Original price was: £14.95.Current price is: £13.50.

For another summery fizz, try the NEW Cremant D’Alsace Brut from André Stentz, whose family has been winemakers since 1674. Made using the Champagne method, it’s a joy to drink with a very fine mousse and a big fruit impact on the palate.

Original price was: £20.00.Current price is: £17.99.

Six organic whites to try this summer

For our whites, we’re starting things off with the popular Collectables Sauvignon Blanc from Walnut Block. Vinified entirely in stainless steel, this super-expressive, vivacious Sauvignon captures the essence of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, a style so many of us love today.

Another very popular organic white wine in summer is Giol’s excellent Pinot Grigio. This soft loveable white has generous creamy peach and apricot flavours, with one of our customers even saying it’s most certainly “the BEST” Pinot Grigio they’ve had to date.

For the Chardonnay lovers, you can’t go wrong with the Cuvée Secrète No Added Sulphur Chardonnay from Paul Mas in the Languedoc. He spent over seven years perfecting his no sulphur range, and that time has certainly paid off.

Picpoul is a crisp French white that’s quite popular in the UK as well. Petit Roubie’s Picpoul de Pinet has nine five-star reviews from our customers, so you also just can’t go wrong with this. It’s the perfect partner for seafood, especially shellfish.

Another recommendation for a summery white is Emiliana’s Adobe Viognier, an affordable white with plenty of fragrant character and touches of honeysuckle and lychees too. It’s also a part of our 2024 Summer Offers.

Last on the list of summer whites to try is not a white, but an orange wine, which are wines that are actually made with white grapes. The El Troyano Orange Wine is made entirely from Vergejo grapes, giving it an excellent freshness with delicate hints of vanilla and spice.

Six organic rosés to try this summer

For organic rosés and pinks, there’s plenty to pick from too. First off for a summer recommended rosé is Mas de Longchamp’s Rhone Rosé, a skillfully blended pink hinting at wild strawberries mingled with a faint whisper of wild herb and spice. Delicious!

Original price was: £11.75.Current price is: £10.90.

Next up is the bright and breezy lightly sparkling Prosa Frizzante from Meinklang, another customer favourite with seven five-star reviews. From 50% Zweigelt, 20% Pinot Noir, 10% St Laurent and 10% Blaufrankisch, this was originally created by the winemaker for their own wedding.

For another stunning organic rosé, we recommend Can Axartell’s Rosado. This is a beautiful blush rosé from Mallorca that’s full of Mediterranean charm and a refreshing character from the Bay of Pollença sea breezes.

With superb elegance and freshness, Domaine Bousquet’s Rosé is southern French in style and has the weight to go well with all sorts of food. Enjoy the fresh 2023 vintage, which has just arrived.

Everyone loves a Provence rose, and this New AOC Côtes de Provence Rosé from Domaine Des Pierecèdes captures everything that’s great about Provence rosé, including lip-smacking flavour, refreshment and purity and delicious strawberry and melon flaovurs.

Lastly, if you’re looking to push the boat out, get yourself a bottle of Champagne Fleury’s Rosé Brut, which gets its beautiful pink hue from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. This is unforgettable rosé Champagne with a fine mousse and decadent red fruits.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this list of recommended summer whites and rosé wines, and if you’re looking for assistance or further recommendations, don’t hesitate to be in touch 😊

Cheers to thinking and drinking organic 🥂
