Santa Tresa Il Grillo Vino Spumante Brut
£14.95
Top quality Sicilian fizz made from 100% Grillo grapes. Surprising? Yes, it is, as it’s particularly fine and fresh, with great balance, spectacular fruit and a refreshing zingy burst of acidity. Move over Prosecco!
This highly individual fully sparkling Sicilian wine offers an enchanting bouquet of wild spring flowers, nectarine and white peach. A keen citrus edge adds to its vitality and balance. More weight and concentration than similarly priced Prosecco, this clean, bright fruited sparkling Grillo is a testament to the dedication and skills of the Girelli family and a new frontier for Sicily.
- 92 Points, James Suckling, ‘It has plenty of Amalfi lemon and wild herbs from the Grillo grape, fine mousse and excellent balance. Easy to drink, but also quite sophisticated. Try it now!’ December 2021
- Recommended by Olly Smith in the Daily Mail, ‘Buzzing bubbly to pop for an aperitif. Pair with fish and chips, a fish finger sandwich or fritto misto.’ February 2018
- Jane MacQuitty, The Times, ‘The light, tongue-tingling apple and lemon-edged Il Grillo di Santa Tresa is an Italian triumph‘ January 2016
- Wine of the Week, The Independent, ‘Bored with Prosecco? Try this: made carefully and organically in Sicily from Grillo, the grape used to make the islands’ fabled Marsala sweet wine and some decent whites, this is a revelation. Dry, a very pure fruit taste and a clean, refreshing acidity. Lovely with canapés and fishy starters.‘ Terry Kirby, August 2016

So so drinkable. My new house fizz!
Cammy –
Classy
Its impossible to not like this if you already like Prosecco. Its like the best quality Prosecco money can buy, the Grillo has so much more depth of flavour and clean gorgeous fruity character. Its on offer at the moment as well which makes it doubly worth buying!

Absolutely gorgeous ! The perfect sparkling wine in my opinion and far superior to Prosecco. It is clean, zingy yet subtle with plenty of citrus flavour. Dry, but not at all acidic or harsh. Will definitely order more in the future.
