Description

A great-value Burgundy that will age well for several years.

The Chalonnaise region of Burgundy is located to the south of the famous Côte d’Or, known for producing some of the world’s most highly prized wines. Like its northerly neighbour, Pinot Noir is the main red varietal here, and this is an attractive Pinot with silky smooth tannins that’s crammed with jammy red fruit flavours. Supple and plump, this wine’s inviting notes of strawberry, cherry, currant and vanilla are harmonious and appealing. A fine Burgundy with energy and verve that will age well for several years.

Taste

Rich plum and cherry with vanilla and savoury spice

Aroma

Strawberry with raspberry and vanilla

Martine and Pierre met on the benches of the University of Rennes. They studied ecology and became aware of looming environmental issues and the impact human practices were having on nature and biodiversity. Love flourished, and when the opportunity to settle down in life presented itself in Burgundy, in an agricultural environment, a wine adventure came as an obvious choice. In 1978, they combined their family names to create the D’Heilly-Huberdeau estate. Situated in the Côte Chalonnaise, which extends over 35 kilometers between the Mâconnais in the South and the Côte de Beaune in the North, the soils here are predominantly clay and limestone. Organic since 1983 and producing their first Cremant de Bourgogne wine in 1986 (the year Vintage Roots was born) we are thrilled to be listing them again after a gap of over 20 years! They are now joined by their son Lucas and long may they continue producing delicious organic Burgundy wines.
