Our long standing Cognac producer (Pinard) also produces a very fine Pineau, which is a famous and delightfully moreish regional aperitif, enjoyed by those ‘in the know’! Produced from organic grape juice blended with eaux de vie spirit, and aged in oak barrel for at least 18 months. Grapey, and enticingly aromatic with a sweet feel and balanced spirited finish. Best enjoyed chilled as an aperitif, or with blue cheese or dessert. Will keep open for a few weeks and also is great in the cooking too!
About the estate
The Pinard family has farmed 17 hectares of organic vineyards around the village of Foussignac near Jarnac since 1969. Ugni blanc, colombard and folle blanche are used. The former is the principal grape variety, whilst the tricky-to-grow folle blanche adds a lovely floral character.
