Richmond Plains - 2018
Richmond Plains Pinot Noir is made in an elegant, appealing style which can be enjoyed when young but will also benefit from a little cellaring allowing it to develop more complex characters. It has a dark cherry nose with chocolate and raspberry whilst the palate has earthy, forest fruits with cherry. The making of the wine was comparatively simple: The fruit was crushed and de-stemmed and transferred to open fermenters. After a period of cold maceration for 4 days the juice was inoculated for fermentation. Regular hand plunging over 10 days was carried out in the winery. Approximately 70% of the juice was transferred into a mixture of French oak barriques with the remainder being held in tank.

Pick of the Pinots
This my personal favourite of all our ‘New World’ Pinot Noirs. It has a lovely savoury, earthy quality to it which makes it brilliant to match with food (I can particularly recommend having it with Christmas turkey!). Excellent value, too, for the quality.

NZ meets burgundy
I really like this style of Pinot Noir, which has ripe fruit of the new world, but the savoury style of burgundy. perfect
