Meinklang Graupert Pinot Gris

£24.00
Taste
Richly textured with dried apricot and herbs
Aroma
Tropical fruit and fragrant flowers
Description
This isn’t your typical Pinot Gris. Graupert means “scruffy” or “wild” in Austrian dialect – and that’s exactly how this wine is made: from untamed, unpruned vines left to grow freely in Meinklang’s biodynamic vineyards, resulting smaller grapes with thicker skins. They are then macerated on skins for about two weeks, giving the wine its characteristic orange/copper hue and classifying this wine as an orange wine too. The aromatics are lifted and savoury with a palate that unfolds with citrus peel, pink peppercorn, earthy spice and a dried apricot finish that’s a little long, a little wild and totally moreish. Chill it slightly, decant if you like and let it show you what Pinot Gris can be when nature leads the way.
