Description
Product Code: EFB104
From an exceptional estate created by Jean Claude Mas and renowned Italian oenologist Luigi Verronelli. Teamwork in a very special location on stony ground in the Languedoc – Grés de Montpellier appellation. The Grenache Noir, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault grapes have been organically and biodynamically farmed since 1995. Aged in a combination of French and American oak for twelve months, this southern French red is rich and velvety smooth, with cherry, liquorice, leather, peppery spice and garrigue melding together perfectly. Hugely enjoyable and satisfying wine to savour.
- Featured by Matthew Jukes, “Made from a classic Southern Rhône red blend of Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan and Grenache by the King of the Languedoc, mastercraftsman Jean-Claude Mas, this is a rich, indulgent, grandly structured wine, loaded with deep, dark fruit notes and layers of smart French oak. The garrigue tones, wild herbs, rocky terrain, and southern sunshine are all captured perfectly in this wicked, lip-smacking wine. Unlike the other two, this one is built for the long haul. It is starting out on a five-year life, and while you can tackle it now, it ought to be decanted to open fully! Plum, berry, liquorice tones, and joust with cracked pepper, thyme, and oregano are some flavours for you to consider when searching for a recipe bold enough for this delicious wine.” (2021 vintage)
- 92 Points, Tim Atkin, “From the hill opposite Clos des Mures at 140 metres altitude, 10km from the Mediterranean a blend based more on Grenache than Syrah. Lovely attack, full throttle, quite silky tannins, good balance very drinkable with fine smoky finish. 2023-2028.” (2021 vintage)
