Description

An elegant and refined Fleurie with silky red fruits.

Savvy wine drinkers have long been drinking Fleurie wines, where they can find the fragrant precision of other Burgundy reds but at a fraction of the cost. This delicate Fleurie is from a family-owned estate dating back to 1676 that’s now classified as a national historical monument in France. Using a single vineyard approach, the Gamay grapes from each plot are vinified and aged separately. Having the light-footed character associated with this appellation, this is a wonderful Beaujolais with attractive slightly floral berry fruits with refreshing acidity and light tannins.

Taste

Fruit and finesse with a supple texture

Aroma

Red fruits with raspberry and morello cherry

Dating back to 1676, Chateau de La Chaize has been a family-run wine-producing estate for almost 350 years in Beaujolais. Today they cultivate 150 hectares of organic vineyards, comprised of 23 individual plots divided among the Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Fleurie and Morgon appellations. For ethical and ecological reasons, Château de La Chaize made the decision to convert its entire estate to organic viticulture, and in 2022, after the three year transition period, their first certified organic vintage was produced. Apart from managing their vineyards organically, they also rely on thermal and solar powered energy, aim to use machinery, vehicles and equipment that run on electricity or hydrogen and also prioritise zero waste and carbon neutrality. In addition, they have also created small catch basins and a natural water treatment area planted with reeds. The recycled water is used to water the 7,000 trees and shrubs that have already been planted on the estate.
