Description

A great value sweet wine from Bergerac in southwest France in half bottle size.

Monbazillac is a famous region located near Bergerac that’s particularly well known for its sweet dessert wines. More affordable than Sauternes, and made in the same way, with the mainly Semillon grapes being affected by botrytis (noble rot) brought on by the humidity and morning fogs in autumn. After hand harvesting and gentle pressing, the must is fermented in a mixture of vats and oak barrels. The French sweet wine is intense and captivating with rich apricot, honey and peach aromas. It’s sumptuous and smooth in the mouth without being too heavy or cloying. Serve chilled and enjoy every drop, either on its own, with desserts or blue cheeses. The reserve of this wine is also available in full bottle size.

Taste

Honey with apricot and white blossom

Aroma

Sweet peach with honey and hints of vanilla

Château Vari is located in the town of Monbazillac in the Bergerac region of southwest France. Owned and run by Sylvie and Yann Jestin, it has been organic since 2009. We welcome having these amazing sweet Monbazillac wines back in our portfolio. Back in the 1980s, when we started Vintage Roots, they were amongst our very first wines listed. In those days we used to hire a van for three days and drive down to collect all of our wines from this region.
