A traditional method sparkling wine with a difference and comprising of 60% Chenin blanc, 20% Chardonnay and yes, 20% Cabernet Franc! Only natural yeast is used and the wine spends two years ageing in traditional wooden pupitres and riddled using the age old method by hand. Dry but very fruit driven with ripe apple flavours, zesty acidity and a fine presistent flavour. Outside of Champagne our first French sparkling wine for many years and certainly worth the wait.
'It's dry but fruit-driven, with lots of ripe apple notes that decorate the zesty, vibrant, stylish palate. Great value for money' 17/20 90 Points Decanter Magazine 2014
The vineyard of Chateau Gaillard is located on the slopes of the northern bank of the Loire between Amboise and Blois, in the middle of AOC TOURAINE-MESLAND. Vincent Girault, owner and winemaker since 1978, endeavors to imbue the wines with a sense place, allowing the soils and grapes to express the 'terroir'. The estate has been certified Biodynamic since 1992.
