We Are Now a Certified ‘B Corp’

Vintage Roots is delighted to announce that we have now achieved B Corp Certification (B Corp).
This has been a rewarding and worthwhile journey that we’ve been working towards for two years. We firmly believe that our move towards B Corp certification will continue to help us improve and develop our business for good.
The ‘B’ in B Corp stands for Benefit For All, and companies that are verified as ‘B Corp’ have to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. The journey towards this certification wasn’t easy, and we have learnt some valuable lessons along the way.
“We’ve always believed that all the wines and other drinks we distribute should be certified organic or biodynamic, as this helps provide clarity and reassurance to our customers,” says Neil Palmer, Co-Director and Founder of Vintage Roots. “In today’s age, certifying our business to high standards in every aspect of its operations rings true with the same resonance.”
B Corp certifications are granted and administered by the not-for-profit B Lab, who report that the average score for ordinary businesses on the B Impact Assessment is 50.9. To be eligible for B Corp Certification, a company must score at least 80 points on the assessment. We’re pleased to report that Vintage Roots achieved a score of 90.1 points.
“From the very beginning, our approach to doing business has always been aligned with B Corp’s values and vision. Running a good business is one thing, and we viewed this certification as the next logical and worthwhile step to run a business that’s the best force for good,” says Steve Lewis, General Manager of Vintage Roots.
The B Corp community in the UK is one of the largest and fastest-growing in the world, with over 2,200 companies spanning a range of different industries and sizes. Names include The Guardian, Patagonia, Stroud Brewery and Sipsmith Gin.
“By taking this step we also commit to a process of continual improvement with the need to re-certify B Corp every three years,” says Steve Lewis. “B Corp certification is not a marketing gimmick and is a genuine commitment to becoming a more responsible business.”
Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, says: “We are delighted to welcome Vintage Roots to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies that are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that Vintage Roots is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
