Mont’albano
Mont’Albano was founded in 1985 in the heart of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, as a result of the intuition of Mauro Braidot who, unlike the majority of the producers of the time, converted his five hectares of vineyard to organic production. Certification followed in 1990, a first for the region. Since that time, the company has extended its reach by working with a number of other organic growers in other regions, buying their grapes, provided they follow the strict viticultural parameters that the organic rules and Mont’Albano requires. The Veneto, Sicily and Abruzzo are key regions in this development. Now, as part of the Sartori group of wine companies their profile has been raised still further. The flagship wines remain the prestigious Friuli wines that are produced from the fruit of their own vines. For Mont’Albano, organic viticulture is not a return to the past, it is innovation that combines today’s technology with the experience of the winegrower who wants to preserve and not exploit the land, using only natural, not chemical, products. The health of the wine in the glass is guaranteed by means of complete traceability throughout the supply chain and the absence of any chemical residues. Cultivating the land with respect, working in harmony with nature and safeguarding the natural environment are key elements of the Mont’Albano organic philosophy. Not accepting compromises to quality is paramount.
