André Stentz Alsace Gewurztraminer

This is a truly outstanding off-dry white wine and one that will offer a real treat to those prepared to veer off the well-beaten Chardonnay and Sauvignon tracks. There’s a distinct lychee, orange rind and floral character to the palate which is topped off with more than a hint of spice. Really great and a wine to try with lightly flavoured Asian foods and, for those that like it, very good with smoked haddock.

The Stentz family have been winemakers in Wettolsheim (6 kilometres from Colmar), since 1674! With vineyards planted on the well-exposed slopes of the Vosges mountains, the vines benefit from a particularly favourable microclimate in the shadow of their peaks. André Stentz also has prized vineyard land in the Grand Cru area of Hengst (for Pinot Noir). Organic since 1984, an early convert in this region, André is one of the cheeriest and most mild mannered winegrowers you’ll ever meet.
