Barone Pizzini - 2019/2020
Tired of oaky whites? Looking for something other than Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc? Look no further than this stylish organic and biodynamic Verdicchio from the east coast of central Italy. Striking citrus fruits with the attractive nutty flavours for which this grape is rightly famous. Steely dry this wine will sing with simply grilled fish.
Gold Medal – International Organic Wine Awards 2016 (2015 vintage)
93/100 – Decanter Magazine, ‘Pievalta’s entry-level Verdicchio comes from a warmer, more Adriatic-influenced site than its San Paolo single-vineyard expression. This makes for a richer, more exotic but still savoury and intense wine. Biodynamic. Drink 2017-2020.’ Monty Waldin, Decanter February 2017 (2015 vintage)
16.5/20 – JancisRobinson.com, ‘Stony white fruit with a hint of mandarin. Linear lemon palate and then ends on a fine leesy note. Mid length.‘ Walter Speller, August 2016 (2015 vintage)
