La Colombette Vin de France Cabernet Blanc
£13.99
Taste
Kiwi, lime and luscious stone fruits
Aroma
Baked apple, sprightly citrus and peach
Description
Product Code: CFB50
A rare white made from Cabernet Blanc by the Pugibet family, who have run the Colombette estate for four generations now. This wine proves that using resistant hybrid PIWI varieties can be both successful and exciting, as well as good for the planet, due to the complete absence of chemical sprays, including copper and sulphur (as a mildew resistant). A beautiful golden colour and super expressive on the nose with enticing notes of baked apple, citrus and peach, with a palate that follows with kiwi, lime and apricot flavours that are big and complex for a wine of this price.
- Featured by Tom Cannavan, “Made from Cabernet Blanc, a new drought and mildew resistant grape that’s a cross of Cabernet Sauvignon and unspecified resistant partner varieties. It is creamy, ripe and really rather nice. It opens with a hint of green fig, but mostly ripe, tropical fruit hinting at banana and ripe Ogen melon. The palate is fruit filled and juicy, with excellent citrus acidity balancing the finish.” (2023 vintage)
