Product Code: ECC03
When ancient astronomers were lucky enough to observe the birth of a new star, they called it ‘Novas’. This line of wines was created as a tribute to Emiliana’s patient work of slowly observing the behaviour of nature. Carmenère has got a lot in common with Merlot; so much so in fact that the Chileans struggled to tell them apart for a while! Anyway, now that they know what’s what, they’ve done an excellent job of turning it into a top-notch variety with lots of ripe plum fruits to bring to a blend such as this Gran Reserva. It’s a seductive wine whose palate positively explodes with supple red fruits.
- 91 points, Decanter, Recommended Weekday Wines, ‘Vibrant and vital, this inky blend (with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon) always over-delivers on price and flavour, with crunchy blackcurrant and boysenberry fruit, gentle mocha creaminess and a fresh bayleaf coolness.’ (2022 vintage)
- 97 Points, Tim Atkin MW (2017 vintage)
- 92 Points, James Suckling (2017 vintage)
