Description
From the Emilia Romagna region of northern Italy, this style of sparkling red is enjoying a sort of renaissance due to the new generation of winemakers here, and this version from Venturini Baldini was the best we could find after numerous tastings. A fun medium-bodied red with plenty of fruits and herbs on the nose, a dry mouthfeel and juicy summer berry flavours. In summer we recommend drinking it lightly chilled, and due to its lively tannins, it also makes for great food matching – try it with antipasti or drink with picnics, BBQs or Italian dishes.

About the Estate
Founded back in 1976 in the hills between Parma and Reggio Emilia, at around 350 metres above sea level, here the 30 hectares of vines at Venturini Baldini are interspersed between woods and pastures on the 130-hectare estate, which offers added biodiversity and protection. This was one of the very first estates in the region to obtain organic certification. Grapes are hand-harvested and include Sorbara, Graparossa and Salamino varieties for the Lambruscos, which are made using the Charmat method.
