£29.50
Taste
Luscious black fruits and cherry
Aroma
Violet and black fruit
Description
Named after their co-owner, Ameri is Domaine Bousquet’s flagship wine and Malbec dominated with some Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah in the blend. This isn’t just a ‘single vineyard’ Malbec, but also ‘specific cluster’ and only 500 cases are made in exceptional growing years. Selected clusters of grapes are chosen from a single vineyard at over 4,000 feet in one of the best Malbec areas of Gualtallary, resulting in increased flavours and aromatics. This single vineyard Malbec is aged in French oak for 12 months. It’s deep violet in colour with deep black fruit aromas, sweet tannins and a smooth delicate finish.
Reviews and awards:
- 93 points, Tim Atkin MW (2021 vintage)
- Featured in Decanter, ‘Restrained but intense nose of ripe dark fruit, chocolate, florals and spice. Excellent palate density, silky tannins, balancing freshness and a wonderful persistent finish. Drink 2021-2028.’ Dirceu Vianna Junior MW (October 2021)
- David Kermode, ‘From a winery established by Jean Bousquet, who sold up in the South of France to tap Argentina’s potential, a top-notch altitude Malbec, with an elegant floral nose, followed by fresh, leafy blackcurrants and foraged blackberry; the pure fruit balanced by fresh mountain acidity, the tannins lithe and finish long. It’s perfect for pairing with fillet steak.’ (2020 vintage)
- 93 points, Decanter and Silver at Decanter World Wine Awards (2020 vintage)
- Drinks Business, Vegan & Organic Masters Silver (2020 vintage)
- 95 Points, Decanter, ‘With a bright floral lift and freshness, this is a a juicy vibrant Malbec that speaks of its cooler sub-region. Fresh red plums and wild herb notes add to the intrigue. A lovely wine with finesse and lots of energy.’ (2019 vintage)
- Voted ‘Outstanding’ in Decanter Premium Argentinian Malbec Panel Tasting (2019 vintage)
