Dark fruits with rosemary, vanilla and cloves
Expressive and complex. Notes of red and black fruit (blackberries, plums, and black cherries) combine with a spicy aroma (aniseed and clove), with a distinctive mineral background and a subtle presence of wood, giving it a unique personality. Full bodied and elegant, the red and black fruits and spices appear again, perfectly balanced by acidity, giving it freshness. An ideal accompaniment for cured meats, pâtés, and cheeses.
Costers del Sio all started with the ambition of a restless man, Juan de Porcioles, who had always dreamed of living in the country, cultivating the land and raising his own livestock. In 1992, the Porcioles-Buixó family bought a property, which is located in the Costers del Segre region in the province of Lleida in the northeast of Spain. Since then, the estate has been developed with hard work and enthusiasm and endowed with its own character and singularity. At the same time, Juan de Porcioles, a great lover of wine, gradually developed the idea of cultivating his own vineyard to produce wines with a distinct personality and of the highest quality. So, in 1998, and with the help of friends and family, he planted the first vineyard, Vinya Vella, by hand, prompting the recovery of winegrowing in the region.
