Wild strawberries and cherry too
Aromatic red fruits
Bright and lively, this Spanish rosé is made from 100% Tempranillo in the sun-drenched hills of the La Mancha region. On the palate it’s fresh and fruit-forward with plenty of plum and red berry flavours, balanced by lively acidity and a light Tempranillo spice. This has to be one of our best value pinks.
87 Points, Tom Cannavan, ‘From Castilla-La Mancha, a screwcapped, organic-certified pink from the hillside vineyards of Bodegas Latúe. It is a typically deeply coloured Spanish rosé, so unlike the in-vogue Provence pale style, but that’s a good thing with just too many lookalikes flooding the shelves. This has an inviting strawberries and cream nose, a little touch of cappuccino adding to the appeal. In the mouth is it perhaps just flirting with off-dry? But a sweep of that pulpy strawberry fruit, good acidity and a bit of Tempranillo spice gives a savoury finish.‘ Wine-Pages.com, November 2015 (2014 vintage)
The story of Bodegas Latué started back in 1954 at which time it was known as the San Isidro Cooperative. The winery is located in Villanueva de Alcardete in La Mancha, central Spain. The 130 grower members were determined to produce wines of true commercial worth. They demonstrated their commitment by focusing attention on the vineyards. Quality was to be the byword and organics too became key. Between 1954 and 2007, the membership expanded significantly to 600 growers. Quality and market relevance increased to such an extent that exports rapidly became their prime source of income. In 2007 the name Bodegas Latué was created and added to the business profile. The 600 growers cultivate 6200 hectares of vines, a significant percentage being cultivated organically. Winemaking rests in the experienced, capable hands of Jorge Pradillo.
La Mancha’s natural environment provides the perfect conditions for wine growing – a regular continental Mediterranean climate, with warm summers, cold winters and low rainfall. Soils are clay-limestone. Using modern winemaking technology Latué ensures that the quality organic grapes are transformed into the best possible finished wine – wine that reflects its precise origins, whilst offering an authentic expression of the grape varieties themselves.
Huge fan of the red Tempranillo... beats all of the supermarket "Best of/ Taste the diference and all that"... This Rose is a perfect mix of fruity and clean, without the sweet taste of Anjou. Cannot wait to experience on summer cocktail with it. This winter: it's all mine :-)
