Chateau Grinou- 2016

Effectively this is quality white Bordeaux at a fraction of the cost, it being from the neighbouring and less trendy Bergerac region. Well polished and appealingly soft with a ripe, almost tropical fruit feel, yet with enough zesty acidity for it to be hugely refreshing too.

Château Grinou

From near the small village of Monestier in Bergerac, southwest France, we are really pleased to have come across this exciting, innovative estate. Here owners Catherine and Guy Cuisset have now been joined by their two sons Gabriel and Julien, whose new talents and enthusiasm helped switch the estate to certified organic in 2009. The wines have a lovely soft texture and easy appeal, and we expect more to be added in the future. The label translates to ‘the young partridges’ often seen sheltering in all the friendly ‘weeds’ growing amongst their vines. Much attention is given here to the soil and to plant biodiversity.
