Touchstone Chardonnay - Vintage Roots, Chile 2009
Looking out of my window here at Vintage Roots HQ I can see that spring is just around the corner. This wonderful Chardonnay will get you in the mood for the sunny months to come (fingers crossed!). Weighty, with a ripe and succulent mouthfeel followed a ‘fruitburst’ of flavours, what I also like about this wine, is that it finishes with crisp, fresh acidity and is in no way overtly oaky. Come back to chardonnay this spring! 

 

Cabernet Franc - Guy Bossard, Loire Valley 2006
I'm still thinking about the wonderful wines I had at a Biodynamic tasting last month, so I've decided to slip this little number into the fold,  which surprised me somewhat. Drinking very well, its full of expressive aromas and flavours. Soft red stewed berries, and touches of smoky spice even leather, it has a subtlety and balance on the palate that kept me captivated. It’s a lighter, gentler style of wine with 12% alcohol and shines out, along with all his Muscadet wines, for which Guy Bossard is more usually known.
