Wild Thing Winners
Inspired by our director Neil Palmer’s ascent of Mount Kenya last year and the placing of a Wild Thing label on its summit pole, we launched a photo competition inviting all to send us their best photo shots of Wild Thing in unusual places. We are delighted to announce the winners of the competition, Susan and Derek Rankine of Scotland, who travelled to Malawi and spent time at the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre in May giving the centre much needed support.
‘It’s fantastic to win a competition in which a company such as Vintage Roots donate some of their profits to our favourite charity, Born Free. ‘ said Susan Rankine ‘ All the money goes to worthwhile animal welfare causes around the globe including the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre in Malawi in which we visited as volunteers recently. The centre is involved in the rescue of wildlife, mainly monkeys, from the pet trade or from poor conditions in zoos and then try where possible to rehabilitate these animals so they can return to the wild where they belong. These places rely on sponsors such as The Born Free Foundation to keep them going so they can continue their hard but rewarding work. We were privileged to spend two weeks there to see it all at first hand. We managed to get our photo with the Vintage Roots label done in between all our duties.’
