Organic Wine Tour – Languedoc October 2017
This is a rare opportunity to directly visit some great organic vineyards, and meet the people behind them. With beautiful countryside, great food and Tim’s expertise and good humour on hand, you can ensure that you’ll be well looked after, and return with stories to tell, and a heightened enthusiasm to discover more about the world of organic wine.
Back in 1998 we collaborated with Tim to run an organic wine tour to Bordeaux and Bergerac. Since then Tim has run over 90 tours to wine regions in Europe and the New World, while Vintage Roots has connected hundreds of organic winemakers and their wines with wine lovers in the UK. So it seems like another organic wine tour is long overdue…
The Languedoc area of France has undergone a revolution over the last 30 years, with a massive increase in quality and a global recognition for the exceptional diversity of grapes and style. From an organic perspective, the region is ideally suited to making wine due to its arid climate, which combined with plenty of cooling maritime influences keep the vineyards relatively disease free.
Outline Itinerary:
DAY 1 (Wednesday)
Meeting at Carcassonne or Toulouse (depending on travel arrangements), the tour will commence in style with a tasting dinner in Carcassonne hosted by Tim, giving the first insights into the subtleties and nuances of the region.
DAY 2 (Thursday)
The first full day of tasting and visits will centre around Minervois and Carcassonne. Domaine de Brau is the first stop, a wonderful family estate that has supplied Vintage Roots since the beginning, so it is always huge pleasure to see the owners Gabriel and Wenny to get the inside story on the Cabardes AOC. Bertie Eden is the next host, in the high-quality Minervois region. His carbon-absorbing, purpose-built hemp winery is a great place to visit. A delicious organic lunch with wine is also included.
Dinner is at your leisure in Carcassonne.
DAYS 3 & 4 (Friday and Saturday)
Days 3 and 4 continue the exploration of the region from an organic and biodynamic producer perspective, visiting the innovative Domaine Paul Mas in the Herault as the tour travels around Narbonne and Montpellier, as well as covering key wines such as Picpoul de Pinet, Corbieres and Fitou. Schedule permitting, there will also be a visit to the Roussillon region. At least four estates will be visited over these two days.
Lunch is included on Friday and Saturday.
There will be a celebratory end of tour dinner in Carcassonne on Saturday night.
DAY 5 (Sunday)
The tour ends after breakfast. Transfers back to Toulouse Airport.

More about Tim Syrad Wine Tours
In Tim’s words, ‘I have been educating and entertaining people about wine for over 25 years. My clients keep coming back year after year because in addition to tastings and visits, we really do meet the people who make the wine and tend the vines. And we make time to enjoy the fabulous scenery, get to know where we are staying, and enjoy the local cuisine along with the wines we are discovering.
I personally escort all my tours, and make sure that every single tour delivers these magic ingredients. I ensure as much as possible of the money my clients pay is spent on great food and wine, and good hotels. And I use my experience and contacts to ensure that I really do connect people who love wine with the people who make it.
