A special purchase made by Vintage Roots as there was not much of this around and we really liked it. It is a soft and elegantly-styled Saint Emilion from a great vintage, with understated intensity. Mainly Merlot with some Cabernet Franc, it is from 80 year old vines on the estate, which are low yielding. A three week fermentation with natural yeats, is followed by 24 months ageing in new oak barrels of medium toast. Now starting to drink really well, we suggest you enjoy this in a nice large wine glass, to help appreciate the lovely colour and complex aromas. Great with rich, meaty dishes of all sorts.
Committed to traditional viticulture practice, this estate is situated in the commune of St Emilion, where the Dupuy family have been making wine for several generations. Planted predominantly with merlot, there is also some cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon.
