Domaine de Brau - 2015
Cabernet Franc is a prestigious grape used in Bordeaux blends to add aroma and complexity, most famously by Chateau Cheval Blanc, where two-thirds of the vineyards are planted to Cabernet Franc. Despite this, it is rarely used as a single varietal, but that trend is changing thanks to wines like this. It has plenty of fruit, plus the hallmark aromatics, savoury complexity and the all-important freshness that makes it such an enjoyable, easy drinking wine.
‘Based near Carcassonne, this 40ha estate has been organic for more than 30 years. It is unusual to see a 100% Cabernet Franc in the area but this cuvée shows the potential: herbs and black cherry on a refreshing, savoury palate that makes easy and enjoyable drinking.’ 88 points, Decanter Magazine, April 2016 (2013 vintage)
