Description
Product Code: CFA03
This biodynamic estate, whilst better known for its excellent Merlot-based reds, also produces a thrilling white Bordeaux of top quality. From both Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris, the fermentation is carried out at low temperatures following a long maceration. This preserves all the freshness and concentration of the uplifting flinty fruit.
- Silver Winner, Millesime Bio 2024 (2023 vintage)
- Gold Medal, International Organic Wine Awards 2017 (2016 vintage)
- Recommended in the Evening Standard, ‘From the biodynamic estate of Château Couronneau, this fresh and lively blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris has a good balance of citrus and sweet mango against a backdrop of flinty minerality. A long maceration and low-temperature fermentation keeps the flavours intense but never overdone.‘ Nuria Stylianou, May 2017 (2016 vintage)

A few years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Christophe and much enjoyed a tour of the estate and production facilities. A considerable investment, theirs is an extraordinary commitment to balancing heritage and embracing modern techniques. I have no doubt that every bottle produced will meet their exacting standards.
From time to time, I present gifts of wine via Vintage Roots. My first choice is always Chateau Couronneau. Thank you Christophe for your commitment to the right way to deliver excellent wines at affordable prices.
