Organic Rhone Valley Wines

The Rhône stretches from Lyon in the North to Avignon in the South, with the famous names of Hermitage, Vacqueyras and Châteauneuf-du-Pape dotted along the way. The region stretches along the Rhone River, which runs over 500 miles from the Alps to the Mediterranean Sea. ...

The Northern Rhone region is famous for its red Syrahs and its whites made from Marsanne, Viognier, and Roussane grapes. The region is only 40 miles long and only produces about 5% of the Rhone Valley wines, but here is where you will find full-bodied, elegant wines like the pricey Côte Rôtie--rich with flavours of raspberries, chocolate, and truffles--or the big, powerful Cornas--known for its earthy, spicey-heavy, and chocolatey flavours.

The Southern Rhone wine region is renowned for its blends, including the world-famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Côte du Rhône AOC is the largest wine-growing sub-region in the Rhone, with two-thirds of the Rhone wines coming from this area. Here you will find full-bodied reds and luscious whites, the result of hot climates and plenty of sunshine. Vinsobres wines are famous for their dark, inky colour and cherry, jammy flavours. Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the most famous sub-region, where 14 different grape varietals are grown and blended into some of the best wines in France.
