Domaine Chasselay - 2018
We are delighted to have this more ‘entry level’ Beaujolais from the Chasselay family to complement their Cru wines from Fleurie and Morgon. Vibrant and vivid in colour and flavour, it’s everything that young unoaked Gamay should be, with super soft berried fruits and gently earthy overtones.
88 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, ‘The 2015 Beaujolais les Quatre Saisons has a focused, vivid bouquet with blueberry and cassis aromas that burst from the glass. The palate is well balanced with succulent red and black fruit, well integrated tannin and a tender, comely finish that caresses the mouth. This is another delicious wine from Chasselay that comes highly recommended at this price‘ Neal Martin, September 2016 (2015 vintage)
88 Points – Tom Cannavan, ‘OK, it’s not the most profound wine of this tasting, but it was absolutely one of my favourites for sheer drinking pleasure. Organically certified Gamay with just 12% alcohol, it is quintessential stuff, with explosive aromas of cherries and red liquorice, sappy young woodland, pepper and a touch of smokiness. In the mouth it is bursting with youthful energy, that crunching red berry fruit, little toughening edge of meaty tannin, and lovely acidity to run alongside the fruit and perfume. I’d happily sip this with roast chicken, turkey, duck or goose.‘ Wine-Pages.com, November 2015 (2014 vintage)
‘I was very impressed by the wines from this family, who can trace their roots in the region back to 1464. Today, Claire and Fabien Chasselay run the 11.5-hectare domaine of owned and rented vineyards, joining their parents in 2008. They make extremely fine wines brimming over with finesse and detail, their prudent approach in the winery allowing their old vine material to shine. The vines here are treated organically (certified in 2006), and having trained in Burgundy, Fabien de-stems part of his crop depending to the vintage.’ Neal Martin in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, June 2014
Mike Ormerod –
The best Beaujolais I’ve tasted.
The best Beaujolais I’ve tasted. It has a lovely combination of fresh fruit character and attractive slight earthiness. A really well made wine; stunning slightly chilled.

Fresh
Very fresh and zippy, perhaps more suited to summer lunches, but I enjoyed this very much with quiche. Low in alcohol too

Smooth and delicious
Just my type of red wine – smooth, fruity, easy to drink even on its own and also great with food.
