Barone Pizzini - 2015/18
From the Tuscany wine region of Italy comes this amazing wine, made from Sangiovese grapes with a splash of Carignano. The fresh air and quality terroir of Tuscany makes for quality grapes. Add to that 14 months aging in oak barrels, and you have a ruby red wine that’s rich, layered, and highly complex. There are classic Tuscan aromas of wild cherries, blackberries, and raspberries. There is even a hint of herbs on the palate, and you’ll love the broad, mellow wine. The flavours are soft and pretty, and the wine has fine tannins and an excellent structure.
Gold Medal – Sommelier Wine Awards 2016, ‘Complexity and a memorable finish helped Barone Pizzini strike Gold. Andrés Ituarte of Avenue Restaurant found this wine “fantastic value”, noting: “Massive tannins, dark cherry and plum with a good dose of zippy acidity.” “Sour red cherries, spices, plus a touch of leather, this is fresh and creamy, with hints of mint chocolate. Outstanding,” said Rossano Antonelli of Hawksmoor Air Street.‘ (2010 vintage)
