A blend of 90% organic young vine Syrah with 10% biodynamic Grenache. Old School Rouge is vinified with the sole aim of preserving the freshness of fruit that the Minervois region gives us. All the fruit is Estate grown, handpicked and ferments with natural yeast in natural concrete tanks. An up-front pleasure bent style, with fruit forward aromas of blackberry, black cherry, olive paste, pepper, and wild herbs to go with a medium-bodied, supple, and admirably fruited palate.
Karabi, the horse on the front label, is used in the vineyard instead of a tractor. This helps to minimise soil compaction, as well as being better for the wider environment.
Old School Rouge is made in an environment that encourages bio-diversity and sustainability. The wine is certified organic and made using only natural yeasts from our vineyard, bottled in light recycled glass and labeled using recycled paper. This is all sun, earth and the toils of man and Karabi. Just Old School...
89 Points - The Wine Gang, 'Another cracking value from English winemaker Bertie Eden is this biodynamic Syrah (with 10% Grenache) that has maturing, soft and plump red fruits pillowed by soft tannins, but the fruit weight and depth is beautifully pitched against the gentle structure. For drinking now and over the next year or two with enormous pleasure.' June 2016 (2012 vintage)
