Intense red from the warm, sandy region of Jumilla, one of the greatest areas in the world for growing top-quality Monastrell. Also know as Mourvedre in France and elsewhere, it thrives in Spain, but has never had the recognition that Tempranillo has. This is shame for the winemakers, but great for us drinkers, because it means wines like this are a bargain! These vineyards are located in a high, dry valley which experiences extreme weather conditions. The 25 year old vines at 900 metres produce concentrated dark fruit, with firm tannins which are nicely balanced by creamy blackberry fruit flavours. Highly recommended!

Altamente vinos is a family project that combines passion, experience and roots in its search to extract the best Monastrell grapes from the land. Fernando Barrena & María Ángeles Conesa work tirelessly to produce the best wine from one of the most arid regions in Spain and the dry farmed old bush vines produce low yields of concentrated grapes at an altitude of 900m. An abundance of wildlife can be found around the vineyards including hares, partridges, quail, wild boar, eagles, hawks, finches, sparrows and larks.
