DO Terra Alta Sacra Natura Celler Pinol / Organic Red Wines
Celler Pinol - 2005

Richly flavoured and perfectly-balanced. Hugely impressive

This wine is overflowing with flavour and personality. It's a harmonious blend of Carignan, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Extravagant and just a touch wild, it's a hugely enjoyable wine; bursting with earthy, herbal black fruits sprinkled with spice. A short blast in oak rounds the wine off nicely.

"Is this the only organic wine in Terra Alta? Whether it is or not, it's a stunner. The blend is a mix of Spanish and international varieties, which sees Tempranillo and Cariñena jostling with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah for attention. A short time in oak (mostly new French) has slightly tempered its youthful fire, but it still erupts out of the bottle in boisterous fashion, sporting sweet berry fruit and toasty oak. With time in the glass, these actually calm down and a more subtle, aromatic herb and balsamic side emerges. In short, a corker, but it is in need of a little patience."

"This label has huge stand-out and the wine has a good brand name which reflects the fact that the grapes are organically grown. There could be even more detail on the label... it's a classless label and well suited to the specialist environment."

A blend of carignan, tempranillo and syrah, aged in new French oak for six months. Intense, ripe fruit with balsamic and mineral notes. Great complexity and fantastic length. 90/100
