Made in minute volumes; every drop should be savoured
Garnet on the rim. Dried fig, plum compote, chocolate - definitely a black- olive edginess to this one. Brooding nose. Wow. Rich, roasted fruit, deep notes - this is the doublebass to the violin of the classico. An opera of a wine. Layered and unfolding and sonorous. Dark chocolate- covered cherries. Dried cranberries. But despite all that weight, the acidity vibrating through like a current.

This tiny 0.5-hectare estate in the world-renowned Rosso di Montalcino appellation has vineyards planted on sunny, south-facing slopes. An almost constant southern breeze coming from Monte Amiata maintains a fresh and healthy climate. The well-drained soils are a mixture of sandy loam and clay loam, well suited to the sangiovese grape.

We're still working on some ideas for our 'Goes Well With' combinations, these things take time, but we're having fun experimenting! If you've got suggestions of your own, or have particularly enjoyed a wine or other drink with a particular meal, or food combination then we would love to hear from you at info@vintageroots.co.uk
