Delightfully soft and hoppy with a long and satisfying finish.
A small independent, and the oldest brewery in Yorkshire. The original well, sunk in 1758, draws water from 85 feet underground for the ales and stouts. Malt is mixed with the hard well water in copper mash-tuns. Fuggles and goldings – hop varieties that have for centuries given the best British ales distinctive flavour – are added later and boiled in coppers.
We're still working on some ideas for our 'Goes Well With' combinations, these things take time, but we're having fun experimenting!
