We're thrilled to list this first vintage Gewürztraminer from Riverpoint. Fermented over a very long 18 months on it's lees, this unique nectarous wine has developed further deep spice and layered complexity from the yeast contact.
'Terrific, classic Gewurz nose, with lychee and Nivea cream and lots of herbal notes coming through in a gentle leafiness. Full and weighty, though basically bone dry, the luscious or sweet character suggested by those aromatics not quite the reality on the palate with its lovely racy fruit and great core of acidity. Located within kilometres of the South Pacific ocean Gisborne enjoys a temperate maritime climate with warm summers cooled by the afternoon sea breeze, misty autumns and mild winters. As biodynamic producers they incorporate the use of special herbal preparations and teas along with a deep understanding of the complex cosmic rhythms which affect their daily activities. James and Annie are committed to leaving the land in an improved state for future generations.
