Desierto Cabernet Sauvignon / Organic Red Wines
Azul y Garanza - 2005
Exciting wine; shows the scope of flavours that Cabernet can deliver
Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this wine are sourced from a single vineyard that lies right next to the biggest desert in Europe, known as the Bardenas Real. The conditions are extreme and this means that yields are very low. What grapes do grow take a lot of mineral flavour from the soil and this shines through in the wine, along with the rich fruits of the forest flavours. Sixteen months in oak lends spice and structure and you'll be impressed by the complexity and long length of this wine.
A wonderful video of how this fantastic wine is made.
